Northfield Park is Ohio’s harness racing workhorse, a half-mile track just outside Cleveland that runs more nights than most tracks dream about. If you’re looking for action, this place has it — they race nearly every day of the year, snow or shine.
The track layout is tight and quick, so early speed is king, but don’t be surprised when a crafty driver swings late and spoils the party. With full fields and a packed schedule, there’s always a chance to find value if you’ve got the nerve.
Northfield’s claim to fame is the $300,000 Carl Milstein Memorial, which brings in some of the best 3-year-old pacers in the country. Add in the Battle of Lake Erie, and you’ve got a couple of marquee nights that attract big names and big betting pools.
When you’re not studying the program, you can wander into the attached MGM Northfield Park casino. Whether you’re into harness racing, slots, or just soaking up the atmosphere, the place doesn’t really slow down.
